Local Attractions

The area around the caravan site has something to offer for everyone, from it's award winning beaches to the beautiful countryside, there is much to see and do.

Swanage

Swanage has a wide range of tourist attractions: The Steam Railway, Durlston Country Park, Victorian Pier, public swimming pools, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor bowling greens and between Swanage and Studland a large golf course to name just a few.

Durlston Park

Durlston Park A short walk from the static caravan

Just a short walk from the caravan. If you wish to enjoy Dorset’s internationally acclaimed coast there are few better places to visit than Durlston. It's a superb site, renowned for internationally important sea-cliffs, grassland, scrub and woodland supporting a wealth of wildlife.

Durlston is also the ideal starting point to explore the wider coastline: here Dorset County Council and The National Trust are working in partnership to manage the largest area of coastal limestone grassland in Europe.

Durlston is an important gateway to the ‘Jurassic Coast’ – England’s only natural World Heritage Site. This designation highlights the outstanding geology of the area: 185 million years of the Earth’s history are revealed along the 95 miles of Dorset and East Devon’s coast.

The Visitor Centre has a wide range of interactive displays and a well-stocked shop. The Rangers keep a daily wildlife diary and there is an extensive programme of guided walks and events throughout the year.

The Lookout cafe in the lower part of Durlston Castle provides food and drink, with outstanding views.

Self-guided trails help you discover more about the local area, while for the more energetic visitor, Durlston is an excellent access point for the South West Coast Path.

Durlston is a superb ‘Outdoor Classroom’. Many of the school, college and community groups who visit each year book Ranger-led ‘Discovery Sessions’, catering for a wide range of interests and abilities. For more information see www.durlston.co.uk.
